The pathology practice started as Drs du Buisson and Partners in 1969 and has grown to the present day laboratory service of Drs du Buisson, Kramer,Swart, Bouwer Inc; better known as the Ampath Pathology Group. |

The service organisation of Ampath was established in 1996 to provide the necessary support functions for the incorporated practices. |

Laboratory Network |

The
laboratories of our incorporated practices offer over 3 000 different
diagnostic analyses. They operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
and serve approximately 40% of the private healthcare market
in South Africa. Our extensive national network, of more than
800 facilities, includes reference laboratories, regional laboratories,
satellite (STAT) laboratories and service depots. We perform
over 63 000 clinical analyses daily which includes referrals
from elsewhere in Africa and abroad. |

Staff |

Our
staff complement has grown to more than 4 400, of which the
majority are laboratory professionals. There are 116 registered pathologists,
from all disciplines, who provide a nationwide analytical and consultative
service. |
